Welcome to this week's You Are Destined For Greatness. I appreciate you taking the time to be here with me today.
You know, the last few years we've heard quite a bit of noise about people identifying as this and that. People identifying as sexes different than they were born with biologically. People identifying as different species, animals, and different creatures, and so on and so forth. Even kids identifying as cats and using litter boxes.
I've heard a lot of outrage about it, and I've heard a lot of different comments. And you know what? I think there's a lot to learn from this. I think that we, sitting back complaining about this and thinking that, I think we're the ones that are confused in some respects. I think they got it right in some respects, and I'll tell you what I mean.
That is, ask us adults, ask the people who are sitting back and judging these people to list five things that we identify as. And most people can't list one or two, unless it was a total accident. "I identify as a man." But seriously, the idea, okay, I think what we're missing, most of us in the mainstream, is that the idea that we get to choose, who we get to decide we are – I think that's what we're missing.
Because most of us don't. We just let it happen by default. We're not aware. We don't know. Maybe we're not aware, but once you do know—hey, then it becomes our responsibility. So I'm here to spread the word.
Here's the deal: you can identify and believe anything you want to about you, and it's a good use of time. As a matter of fact, if you don't do it, it's being done for you. Your brain is filling your mind full of thoughts, okay? Repeating thoughts that are becoming your solid beliefs, whether you're aware of it or not.
"I can't."
"I don't have enough money."
"I'm too busy."
"That's not me."
"Those people are disciplined. They were born into that."
"I don't have money."
"I can't afford it."
On and on and on, oaky. It goes on endlessly. These are unintentional thoughts that are determining what we believe to be true about ourselves, which determine our results.
Because here's the flow of it, if you remember: our thoughts drive, produce feelings. Our feelings drive our actions, and our actions determine our results in this lifetime.
So your mind's feeding you thoughts. That's what brains do, okay? And if we don't have an intention around it, including, I mean, everything that we operate in this lifetime, everything that we do, and all the influence that we have to our children and the people that we love, and everyone that we come in contact with is affected and influenced by what we believe to be true about ourselves.
So if we're not intentional about it, it's going to happen anyway. And it might not be the best that it can be, and it might not even be what we want. It might not be helping us get the things that we want in our lifetime for ourselves and everyone else.
So here's the point. People who identify as this and that and the other—the one thing that they do have right, for sure, is that they're making an intentional choice about what they want to believe to be true about themselves.
Okay, and I challenge you: list three things right now. Just go ahead. What is true about you? What do you identify as at your core as a human being?
Are you awesome? Are you outstanding? Do you live an extraordinary life? Are you disciplined? Are you a high achiever? Do you love every day? Is every day a challenge? Are you proud of the person? Are you confident? Are you ultra confident? Are you super confident? Or do you lack confidence?
Because these things are choices that we get to believe.
Are you decisive? Are you a total badass? Are you just awesome?
Okay, I don't know if you know the answer to those things, but they can be “Yes.” And I believe them about you.
Okay, it's a choice that you can make. Know this, You Are Destined For Greatness.
